what the fuck is inktober and does this count as one
This counts. Good job.
Inktober Day 1: Zombies!
September was pleasant, but if there’s one month we all go nuts over, it’s October. (March is an abomination that should be struck from the calendar.)
Some of you are celebrating 31 days of Halloween, others are celebrating Inktober. @question-josh is celebrating both, knowing full well that he doesn’t have to choose sides. Bravo, @question-josh.
Everybody is “Peanutizing”(?) themselves - it looked like too much work to assemble the avatar so I just drew it.
You’re a good, full-bearded man, Charlie Brown.
Tumblr Tuesday: Inktober
When is Inktober? It coincides with a month called “October” and it’s a challenge to post one drawing per day throughout.

One spectacular drawing plucked daily from the #inktober tag on Tumblr.

kittytentacles and m-iro go head to head in a fearsome Inktober competition. It’s the biggest ink-based kerfluffle since Baron von Faber renounced his birth rank to acquire the title of Count von Faber-Castell.*

Basil Hallward is alive and well in 2014. Dorian Gray is a wrinkled mess.

We found some ghosts. Unfortunately, they are much too cute. Proceed at your own risk.
Wow! No. This ghost dog is too cute. We are not off to a great start here. How dare a ghost be this adorable?
This nyan ghost is having so much fun. They’re really making the most of a moment. Frankly, it’s upsetting.

An entire jar of precious Boos? No THANK you. Too cute.
Hauntingly adorable. Whom can we arrest for the grave injustice of making this ghost extremely cute?

This ghost is so pure. NO.

We’re celebrating Pride month on Tumblr with a series of interviews from celebrities and artists, asking them about expression, identity, and art. Today’s dose of queer Pride comes from writer and illustrator Ludi Leiva (@ludileiva).
How do you express yourself on a day-to-day basis?
By starting each morning with three pages of free writing. By giving myself permission to doodle just because. Not for anyone, just for myself and I’m learning the idea that my worth isn’t rooted in how much money I make.

What is the relationship between your art and your identity?
My identity and my art are inextricably linked…you can’t really divorce one from the other. My art and my creative process is a way for me to learn more about myself; To tease apart my identity and to heal.
What advice would you give your younger self about exploring your identity?
Not worry about pleasing people all the time, not worry about societal expectations, and to listen to her intuition. If I had learned that sooner, I think I would have had a different life.

What about you, Tumblr? How does your identity guide your art? Let your followers know in a post. Tag it #TumblrPride so it’s easily found by the community. Need inspiration? Follow @ludileiva for more beautiful illustrations.
In honor of Pride Month, we’ve interviewed a solid set of celebrities and artists on Tumblr to discuss the importance of expressing your identity. Here’s a friend to all, author and illustrator Adam J. Kurtz (@adamjk).
How do you express yourself on a day-to-day basis?
Really because of the internet and the space I’ve created and participated in, I’m able to be myself and communicate on a day-to-day basis. I get to be myself and that’s allowed! People are here for it.

My art is extremely personal and often really literal. So, you know, as a queer person everything I make is gay. It’s gay as hell! Because that’s actually who I am.
I wish I could tell my younger self to not worry so much. You know, I started my Tumblr when I was 17, just like, sharing my art and now I do that full time. And through Tumblr I met the man of my dreams, we’re married. Life is great!

Your turn, Tumblr. If you could give your younger self advice on exploring your identity, what would it be? Let your followers know in a post. Tag it #TumblrPride so it’s easily found by the community. Oh, and don’t forget to visit @adamjk for more illustrations, books, and enamel pins like the one above.
you: What day is it?
us: It’s October 3rd.
In honor of October 3rd, our own anniewerner is hosting an art show over at onoctober3rd. If you’ve ever made Mean Girls art, that’s the place to put it, and today’s the day to submit it.

In honor of Pride month, we’ve connected with some incredibly talented artists and celebrities on Tumblr to discuss what their identity means to them. First up is Nicole Ruggiero (@nnnicoleruggiero), a 3D artist who uses art to express—among other things—her attraction to femininity.
I would say that I usually present myself as either feminine or androgynous. It really depends on how I’m feeling that day.

So I’ve always been out, ever since I was in middle school. I never really struggled with that. I’ve never really been the person who’s really into Pride-oriented communities, but I’ve also never been afraid to express who I am. I’ve dated a lot of women and some men, but I would say more than anything I’m really attracted to femininity. And I really like to express that in my art. I think that is definitely a big theme that I focus on.
I don’t know if I’d give my younger self that much advice about exploring my identity. I think it was fairly easy for me. I kinda knew from a young age. The internet really helped me a lot. I was just really open about it and I think I helped other people by doing that, as well.

How about you, Tumblr? How does your art help express your identity? Tell your story in a post, tag it #TumblrPride so it’s easily found by the community, and check out @nnnicoleruggiero‘s blog for inspiration and truly beautiful jpegs.
Go back to bed.
