tumblr tuesday: magical girls
It’s Tuesday, and here are some of (y)our favorite magical girls to celebrate. Whether they are fighting crime, extra-terrestrials, or, in fact, time, these gals bring order to our chaos. Moon prism power, make up!

Set Tumblr alight with a favorite photo of your chaos demon cat. If you blaze a photo (or video, or GIF) of your chaos demon cat this coming Saturday, May 13, the photo (or video, of GIF) of your chaos demon cat will receive double the number of impressions you select. That’s double the amount of human eyes on your chaos demon cat. Just imagine.
Some stipulations:
Well, friends, Dracula Daily has commenced its second round with a bang and a flurry of foul bauble flinging. And, well, we all love a good fanged frenemy over here on tumblr dot com. So here’s some excellent recent vampire art to celebrate the most artful of monsters.
(Please proceed with caution—there may be some depictions of blood ahead. Vampires really do be like that.)
@thevampirelibrarian (a whole comic about the very same!):
It’s May. We’ve moved from the past to the present. Look at us go.
Some of us are going to need another week to come to terms with that fact. Meanwhile, some of you have been waiting, lurking in the shadows, hovering just behind the curtains of April, ready to jump out at May, your mer-art at the ready.
Please enjoy your second day of Mermay. And be sure to hit the merfolk bracket on your way out.

…and a bonus moray with legs by @ketrinadrawsalot:
I have returned from my meditative retreat atop the secluded mountain of the Pikaman, to resume my duties as Chief Merch Officer of the @emporium.
But Abstract Reactions will forever be in my heart — I’m even considering getting them tattooed!
Just to refresh your memories, on April 1st, Tumblr provided you with a bunch of Reactions to use on posts! Specifically, the emojis I had most recently used on my phone… I’m SO proud of how much incredible ENGAGEMENT the product received.
Over 100,000 of you spirited react-ers participated — and how many reactions did everyone use, you might wonder? Well, wonder no longer, I’ll tell ya!
The special SUPER reactions of 🦄, Pikaman, 🍪, and even me, Brick myself, were unlocked over 15,000 times!
And at least one clever person figured out that I never thought about checking if someone could send negative reactions, so it turns out someone sent in over 120 million negative 🧀 reactions! So many cheesed posts got un-cheesed with that anti-cheese — and you know what, I’m not even mad about it!
Here’s to 🐛! Cheers!
Yours clickingly,
Brick
Incredible work, [tumblr] and Brick!
It’s national velociraptor awareness day! What is there that we need to be aware of regarding velociraptors? No idea! We’re just here to enjoy renditions of these swift plunderers from 73ish million years ago (the raptors, not the art).
And before you get up in arms about the specification of some of these little guys, we’ve broadened the scope to include all types of dromaeosaurs…because the art was pretty, and frankly, mistakes were already made before we got here (we’re looking at you, Jurassic Park).
So, please enjoy this raptor and raptor-adjacent art. (And, while we have you, can the paleo plushie experts please take a look and see if they can help this user find another Hammer?)
Well. Well, well, well, well, well. It’s here. The day has finally come. We’ve enjoyed witnessing you set dashboards ablaze the world over with your fandom hot takes, your cats, your dragon art, your recipe polls, your incorrect quotes, your Barbie memes. (But, really, mostly your cats.)
Starting April 20, you will be able to Blaze each other’s posts: You’ll be able to scroll through your dash and see a post that tickles you, and then make thousands of complete strangers see that post also.
We made this for fun, but you remain in charge of your stuff. So here are some important details:
So that’s it, really. Be nice! Have fun!
And, as always, if you want to get in touch, drop us a line on @wip or Support, and keep an eye out for more updates on @changes.
Hello, Tumblr.
If you joined us before November 2022 and predominantly post on web, you will be familiar with the two post editors—the legacy editor and the “new” web editor (formerly known as the “Beta editor”).
Beginning May 15, we’ll gradually be working to remove the legacy editor as an option for creating new posts. New posts created on web will be created in the new web editor. We hope to complete this change by July 15.
If you still prefer to post on web using the legacy editor, please keep reading because the rest of this post is for you.
It’s been a whole week since we celebrated our creative community on a Tuesday. So here we are. That’s what this is.
I don’t know if you heard the news when it dropped, but I left the sunny island of Clawland in the rearview mirror a few months ago and stepped into a role back here at Tumblr as Chief Officer of Merchandising and Physical Engineering. I’ve been sharing my wares over at my Emporium, and more importantly, you’ve been buying!
Things have been going so darn well that last night, I had plenty of time to reflect on how far I’ve come. No blockers in my way, KPIs going through the roof, everyone happy with their new mugs and pins and tshirts, and me at the head of it all… everything’s coming up Brick, right?
But one thing about merchandising is, well, it’s fun, and creative… but there isn’t much clicking. Brick Misses Clicks!
I thought about how dang popular my little crabby friends were on the dashboard when I was away. Spawning like crazy! There’s no denying it: you kids love those crabs. You’re even spending cold hard cash sending them to each other.
So, the question was: how to combine that kind of clicktastic feature you know and love, with something new? Something FRESH?
And then, it hit me!
Beginning today, you’ll be able to SLAM those react buttons at the bottom of every Tumblr post to express your emotions. On the web at least. Not in the mobile apps. (I’m a budget whiz, but not that much of a whiz.)
And listen, this is short notice. I haven’t slept all night, putting this together, ever since the idea struck me while stargazing and reflecting on my life and choices. So the actual reactions available to use are limited for now. They were actually just the most recently used emojis in my phone.
But I just know you’ll love them anyway. Because they come from me, BRICK!
Yours clickfully,
Brick Whartley
Chief Reactions Officer
Chief Officer of Merchandising and Physical Engineering (On Leave)
Thank you, Brick. Have fun with these reactions on web, folks!
