Trans day of visibility

aurorasunrisesunset:

Today is trans day of visibility, so I would like to post a few reminders:

*Trans people need support all year long.
*This holiday is to celebrate trans people.
*Trans people are wonderful.
*Outing people without consent? DON’T!
*Appreciate trans people for who we are.
*Remember that we are human beings.
*A trans person being an asshole, although that needs to be called out, is no excuse for misgendering or deadnaming someone.
*There’s no excuse for misgendering or deadnaming, except if the trans person is closeted and not ready to come out to certain people.
*Don’t confuse fetishization with love.
*Even trans people have internalized transphobia, therefore do listen when called out, and do consciously fight against it.
*Transphobia is structural, there’s no equivalent for cis people because they don’t face this kind of oppression.
*Remember that transphobia, and also transmisogyny, can intersect with other forms of oppression, like racism or ableism.
*If you have cis privilege use it to support trans people.
*Correct pronouns and name are equally important whether or not the trans person is there to listen.
*Reblog our selfies if you can? That’d be nice.
*Do listen to trans people and do your learning.
*Google is a wonderful tool so use it.
*Trans people are amazing.
*Thank you for existing.
