You can now prefix any theme variable with “URLEncoded” to output a URL encoded string. This should make it easier to integrate third-party widgets like Digg, or Facebook’s new Like Button.

NASA’s Space Shuttle program will be retired later this year to make room for the next big thing, and it got me thinking about the fact that somebody’s eventually going to make the first Tumblr group blog in space. I just hope it’s for something relevant like videos of people experiencing weightlessness and not a bunch of cute photos of pandas, but either way… it’ll be huge.

Hey there, Tumblr! The world rejoiced earlier today as flights in Europe were finally cleared in the wake of the eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland. Unfortunately, there seems to be another large plume of smoke gathering in the atmosphere all around the world right now which may impede visibility, hamper concentration, and increase the consumptions of snacks.
