Getting ready for big updates
Hi everyone! We’re getting ready to push some major updates over the next few weeks, and we wanted to give you a heads-up on changes to our custom theme engine. Improved YouTube quality
Wreck and Salvage posted a generator for getting higher-quality YouTube video embeds. We thought this was a great idea, so we’re now testing automatic generation of these higher-quality embeds for all YouTube videos posted on Tumblr. Every embedded video should now show the new quality increase. (It’s not a huge difference, but it’s noticeable on many videos.) Thanks, Wreck...

So you can view your tumblelog on your computer and your phone, but what about on your bookshelf or your kitchen counter? No? Well, Ilya Grigorik is out to change that. He’s used the Tumblr API and some image-processing to make his Quote posts display in a digital picture frame. It’s pretty slick and we can’t wait to see an auto-updating WiFi version.
